Ben has owned and operated The Sandbar since its inception in August 2013. Before this, he operated his family owned and operated business, The Paddington Alehouse, between 2003 and 2013. Ben is a Scarborough local, and has lived in the community since 2011
Lauren Nolan
Part-owner/Functions Manager
Lauren comes from Kerry in the South West of Ireland. Coming to Australia as a backpacker in 2018 she is now using her degree in Business information Systems to help her in her work at the Sandbar by the fabulous Scarborough Beach. Starting as a waitress she has loved it ever since, never looking back! Lauren became a part owner of The Sandbar in December 2022.
Rhys Flynne
Venue Manager
Rhys is a hospitality professional who has worked both across Australia and overseas. His passions include a good Scottish whisky, the West Coast Eagles and a good book. Rhys grew up down the road from us and loves Scarborough and it’s vibrant atmosphere.
Joel Hodges
Head Chef

Hayley Cavendish
Bar Manager
Originally from South East London, Hayley has been in Perth since October 2016, after spending a summer season on the Greek island of Ios.
She has been at The Sandbar for nearly 2 years, starting off as a bartender and being promoted to bar supervisor.
Cameron Davies
Assistant Venue Manager
Cam is Scarborough born and bred. Growing up in the area, he knows his way around! The Sandbar is where Cam first started working in hospitality. He joined our team mid 2020 and quickly rose from floor staff to assistant venue manager in no time! On his days off Cam loves playing beach volleyball, lawn bowling and relaxing on the beach.
Sara Del Piano
Restaurant Manager
Sara comes from Milan, a very big city in the northern part of Italy. She has been living in Perth since September 2015 and straight away fell in love with Scarborough.
She has worked many years in the industry and she has been part of our team since early 2017 and loves it!
Josh Dawson
Assistant Bar Manager
Josh is second in command of our bar and has been a part of our team since 2023. Josh has 6 years of hospitality experience under his belt and has worked in multiple venues around Western Australia from the city to the country. Josh’s favourite food item on our menu is the Bodgies & Widgies pizza. His favourite drink here is the Mango Fandango (featured in his photo).
Ross Ferguson
Restaurant Manager
Ross The Boss Ferguson hails from a wee town outside Glasgow, Scotland. After gaining his legal qualifications in sunny Scotland, he decided he did not want that smoke and moved to Western Australia to thaw out. He came straight to Scarborough and hasn’t looked back since. He’s a great triathlete with an Ironman under his belt. Rossyboy has been part of our team since 2023 and loves working as both a bar & restaurant manager. You can catch him running our summer & winter market stalls too!
Hollie Savage
Assistant Bar Manager
Hollie comes from the South West of England from a city called Bristol. Hollie left Bristol in 2022 to travel around the world. She came across Scarborough on her way and it has been too good to leave! Hollie joined our team in August 2023. Having a teaching qualification under her belt, she is a great asset to our management team! In her spare time Hollie loves swimming in the sea and running along the coast.
Adesh Sapkota
Bar Supervisor
Adesh comes from the North of Nepal. He has been in Australia since November 2013. Adesh has been part of the Sandbar since 2014.
He worked at several venues in Melbourne and Perth before joining The Sandbar crew. Here at the Sandbar, we have a multicultural family which is definitely one of the best thing about this place.
Leressa Jubainski
Restaurant Supervisor
Our Brazilian super-star Ceressa joined our team in early 2022. She has over 5 years of hospitality experience from Australia alone. Moving from Curitiba, South Brazil, she is now a true Scarborough resident. She has recently graduated in Architecture from UWA. In her spare time Ceressa enjoys spending time with her family and touring up and down the coast on sunny days.
Flynn Francis
Restaurant Supervisor
Flynn was born & raised in Perth and has been part of our team since 2022. Flynn left the retail industry to pursue a career in his real passion – hospitality. Flynn is a gun on the bar, floor and on coffees! In his spare time Flynn loves reading, listening to music and creating art.
Xochilt Hawkey
Bar Supervisor
Xochilt (pronounced Sotchy) is from the seaside city of Bristol, South England. After studying business, she moved to Australia in 2022 and joined our team at The Sandbar in 2023. Xhochilt loves the hospitality lifestyle. In her spare time she enjoys running by the beach and exploring coastal life.
